Y M I ? or shud I say "why am I? " A good pun used by the latest arrival in theatres.
Yeh Mera India deals with the lives of several Indians residing in Mumbai. The movie starts with their lives being shown as different stories and slowly but gradually they are all connected, thread by thread. Some really hard hitting moments, some tragic scenes, but all very close to the realities of life.
As the movie progresses, you wonder how is the script-writer going to end a movie with so many characters, all them an importance part. But, hats off for the superb ending.
Superb acting, excellent shayaries (thankfully no songs), and good dialogues, all make this one of the few good movies in recent times. If we had "A Wednesday" and " Mumbai Meri Jaan" last year, this year we surely have "YMI" this year. What were called offbeat movies in the yesteryears are now part of the mainstream and reaching out to masses.
N. Chandra makes a comeback with YMI after a long time since his Pratighaat and Ankush.
This movie did not make me cry anywhere, but it surely did make me think . . . of the consequences of an event and the mental block it creates in our minds.
Go, watch this movie, feel proud as well as think how we Indians truly are at our very cores . . . .
JAI HIND ! !
